The 2026 World Cup will start with three opening ceremonies preceding the first matches of the three organizing nations, Mexico, the United States, and Canada, as announced by FIFA on Friday, May 8.

The first 48-team World Cup will kick off on June 11 with the Mexico-South Africa match at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City. A 90-minute opening ceremony will precede the kickoff. The festivities will feature artists such as Colombian reggaeton star J Balvin, Hispanic-Mexican Belinda, and Mexican Alejandro Fernandez.

Canada will have its own ceremony on June 12 in Toronto before facing Bosnia-Herzegovina, like the United States later that same day in Los Angeles before the USA Team’s inaugural match against Paraguay.

French singer Vegedream is scheduled to perform in Toronto with Nora Fatehi and Michael Buble, while pop star Katy Perry, rapper Future, and Brazilian singer Anitta will perform in Los Angeles.
