According to RMC Sport, Marseille striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was left out of the squad for the trip to Le Havre on Sunday in Ligue 1 for allegedly spraying Bob Tahri with a fire extinguisher. Tahri was tasked with enforcing curfew at the training ground.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will not be traveling to Le Havre for the 33rd round of Ligue 1 on Sunday. As explained by RMC Sport on Friday, the Marseille striker was excluded by the club management after incidents that occurred during a team bonding session at the training ground on Thursday evening.

Bob Tahri, responsible for enforcing curfew and representing the club’s sports management, was allegedly sprayed with a fire extinguisher by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, as reported by L’Equipe. The former 3000m steeplechase specialist reportedly struggled with the situation, with his bed and personal belongings also being sprayed.

Aubameyang eventually apologized to Tahri and the management. The ex-Dortmund and Arsenal player claimed he wanted to “liven things up” during the event, which was organized like a “summer camp”. Stéphane Richard and Alban Juster met with the players at the training center around noon on Friday before sanctioning the Gabonese international.

Last Saturday, Aubameyang led the attack during Marseille’s humiliating defeat to Nantes (3-0), leading to the club implementing a disciplinary team bonding session. The session lasted four days at the training ground, culminating in a particularly eventful final night.

Currently seventh in Ligue 1 with two rounds left, Marseille trails AS Monaco by one point, who currently hold the Europa Conference League qualifying spot. However, seventh place could secure a spot in the C4 next season if Lens wins the French Cup final against Nice on May 22. To avoid depending on Lens, Marseille must win their final two matches and hope for a slip-up elsewhere. Marseille will conclude their season on May 17 with a home match against Rennes.
