At just 17 years old, Mathis Carnejac is rapidly making a name for himself in French motorsport. From karting to his first victories in car racing, the young driver harbors high ambitions while keeping a level head.
Taking his two-year-old son to the circuits, Alex Carnejac likely aimed to instill a love for motorsport. Did he hope to turn him into a champion? Perhaps. Regardless, the process has borne fruit, evident from the plethora of trophies and cups on display at the Caudecoste karting venue.
Mathis Carnejac emerges as a promising prospect in French motorsport. Although not yet of legal age, he has already spent a significant part of his life on race tracks. His journey began with karting at the age of five, practicing slaloming in a basketball court.
He craves thrilling experiences and started racing on circuits as soon as he was legally allowed – at the age of seven. The young driver from Lot-et-Garonne revels in the speed and freedom that racing offers, along with the stress and pride that come with competing.
His dedication translates into success on the track, with regional championships and a 9th place finish at the World Championships in Bahrain in 2021. The pressure on his young shoulders during that event was immense, but Mathis handled it admirably, showcasing his talent early in his career.
Transitioning to cars in 2025, Mathis left karting behind to focus on a new challenge. This shift presented new thrills and a different style of driving, leading to immediate success at the Nogaro Easter Cups with two pole positions and victories.
Now aiming to excel in the 2026 Mitjet championship, Mathis eyes a bright future in motorsport with dreams of competing in and winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Despite his youth, he shows maturity by pursuing a mechanical engineering diploma to stay connected to the automotive world, ensuring a backup plan in case his racing career doesn’t go as planned.
