The Chelsea Football Club announced on Wednesday the dismissal of its coach Liam Rosenior, less than four months after his appointment at the helm of the London club.
Hired at the beginning of January from Strasbourg, with a contract running until June 2032 to succeed Enzo Maresca, the British coach did not survive a series of alarming performances: seven defeats in eight games, across all competitions, towards the end of his tenure.
Chelsea hopes to salvage its season
In twenty-three matches managed on the sidelines of Stamford Bridge, Liam Rosenior failed to make his mark. In the Premier League, the collapse reached its peak with five consecutive losses, during which Chelsea did not score a single goal, pushing the club down the standings and dwindling its hopes for qualifying for the Champions League.
In other competitions, the record is not much better. The Blues were successively eliminated from the League Cup and the Champions League, two failures that significantly increased the pressure on the technical staff. Faced with this accumulation of underperformances, the club’s management made a decision before waiting until the end of the season. No immediate information has been released on the identity of the potential successor.
