The trial of the two former managers of the Everest gym, along with one of their alleged accomplices, began in 2022. Four years after the initial actions of this investigation, the trial that was supposed to judge these three defendants has once again been postponed by the criminal court of Besançon. In this case where investigators uncovered “3.7 million euros of diverted funds partly to the government and partly to apprenticeship aid,” as the prosecutor stated in June 2025, the situation must be clarified for judgment.
“We have three individuals who are being referred to the court. For them, there are no difficulties. However, we have twenty legal entities who are being prosecuted. In the first hearing, three had already disappeared,” Julien Babé recalled. “There are still 17 entities included in the prosecution. After the judicial safeguards, we now have 10 companies in judicial liquidation with a problem of representation for these companies,” he added. “A judicial representative has been appointed to represent some of these companies, but the court is awaiting the outcome of all these parties to have a ‘clearer view.'”
After deliberation, the president of the court, Karine Renaud, granted the public ministry’s request. “The court defers the examination of these cases to a three-day hearing on November 25, 26, and 27. The judicial controls of the defendants are maintained under current conditions.”
