In 1981, Radio Peinard was born in Béziers, a free, independent and resolutely different radio station under the leadership of Jean-Paul Jorge. Saturday June 20, the “20, it’s wine”, which will blow out the 45 candles of this Biterroise institution, will have a very particular and festive flavor. Still on Place de la Madeleine, from 7 p.m.
Saturday June 20, Radio Peinard Skyrock will celebrate its 45th anniversary during a special edition of “20, c’est le Vin”, on the Place de la Madeleine, in Béziers.
It was in 1981: a free, independent and resolutely different radio station was born in Béziers under the leadership of Jean-Paul Jorge. It was initially just a pirate radio station which broadcast for the first time, on May 20 to be exact. It was only the following year, in 1982, the day after the liberation of the airwaves with the resulting storming of frequencies, that the radio (which obtained the frequency 100. FM) became a private commercial radio, in the form of a company.
Forty-five years later, Radio Peinard Skyrock has lost none of its pioneering spirit. “Looking towards the future, it continues to write its history. Faithful to its values of proximity, openness and freedom, it supports local life, discovers talents, supports local initiatives and imagines events that bring people together”, explains Nathalie Barbry, partner of Jean-Paul Jorge until his departure in 2023, today manager of Biterroise radio.
“Légèreté, mélodies et insouciance”
To mark this anniversary, Radio Peinard Skyrock therefore chose to celebrate this moment during its monthly meeting (every 20th of the month), which has become an institution in Béziers: “The 20th is Wine.
“This anniversary edition will be placed under the sign of lightness, melodies and carefreeness”specifies Nathalie Barbry. The evening will be punctuated by an Abba tribute, a mischievous nod to Jean-Paul Jorge, “whose adolescence in Juan-les-Pins vibrated to the sound of these melodies which inspired, in part, the creativity, open-mindedness and independence which still animate the radio“.
And : “For 45 years, Radio Peinard Skyrock has been moving forward with the same desire: to create connections and offer moments that you don’t experience anywhere else. The whole team is delighted to savor this moment with radio fans.”
This edition will also be an opportunity to celebrate the launch of the brand new Club Peinard, which today brings together more than 38,100 members around good deals, outings and local life.
