Pascale* is in her late fifties. This Vaudoise working in the administration became a fan of Patrick Bruel in the midst of “Bruelmania”, like many, at the turn of the 1990s. The flame was lit during a concert at the Malley ice rink, of which she still remembers “the hysteria of the female gender in the front rows”. Three decades later, Pascale* is still one of the faithful. If she ranks outside the fringe of die-hard fans, she is part of a “group of friends” used to attending the star’s performances in French-speaking Switzerland.
Pascale* does not express it, but we perceive it: she is worried about the affair which is shaking her favorite singer, indicted last week, currently targeted by 13 complaints for acts of rape, attempted rape, sexual assault and sexual harassment, which allegedly took place in France as well as in Belgium between 1997 and 2001. The fifty-year-old is wary of any hasty conclusions, hiding behind the presumption of innocence while awaiting the judicial verdict. Meryem, 44, also refuses to see further than the court, for fear of considering the worst-case scenario. “I let justice do its work,” she says.
