For several weeks, Patrick Bruel is going through an extremely complicated period. The 67-year-old singer and actor is currently the target of four complaints for rape in France as well as a judicial investigation for sexual assault in Belgium. Several other women also spoke “an inappropriate attitude or gestures during massages†on the sidelines of concerts between 2008 and 2019. Among the most publicized accusations is also the complaint filed by Flavie Flament, who accuses the artist of a rape committed in 1991 in Paris. Last week, the Nanterre public prosecutor’s office also announced the reopening of a procedure linked to a complaint filed in 2021 for facts dating back to 2015. Patrick Bruel firmly contests all of the accusations brought against him. On Instagram, the interpreter of Break your voice had assured: “I will continue to do my job†, and assured that he did not “never forced a woman†. Despite this, several concerts have already been canceled, notably in Quebec, while some elected officials are now calling for its withdrawal.
Theater management comes out of silence
In this particularly tense context, the representation of the piece Part Twoin which Patrick Bruel is currently playing at the Théâtre Edouard VII with Stéphane Freiss and Marine Delterme, was disrupted this Wednesday, May 27 in the evening by activists from the #NousToutes Paris Nord collective. According to several videos relayed on social networks, three women present in the audience stood up chanting “Bruel, rapist! Bruel, rapist!†, while wearing masks bearing the singer’s image with the word “rapist†written on it. The representation immediately interrupts and the militants evacuate them for security. Interrogate pair The ParisianMaria Martin-Pipaud, deputy director of the theater, said: “The security service arrived, we took them out, they didn’t struggle (…) it lasted two seconds and then, lo and behold, the room started again at the beginning†. The manager also said she did not know how the activists had obtained their places. For its part, the feminist collective claimed this action in a press release, believing that “the precautionary principle is essential†and accusing certain performance halls of continuing to “roll out the red carpet†to the artist despite the accusations.
Patrick Bruel considers himself “professionally dead”
According to Paris Match this Thursday, May 28, 2026, Patrick Bruel would also have confided to certain relatives: “I know I’m dead professionally…. A strong sentence which would testify to the very heavy climate around the singer for several weeks. Despite the controversies and calls to cancel his tour, the artist still intends to maintain his concerts planned from June 16 at the Cirque d’Hiver in Paris. Those around him explain in particular that a cancellation would represent “colossal indemnitiesâ€. Despite the situation, part of the public continues to support the singer in the name of the presumption of innocence. But feminist groups are already warning that other actions could take place during his next public appearances.
