The casting of The Maid 2 continues to make people dream. Sydney Sweeney is obviously back in the skin of Millie Calloway, as is Michele Morrone who takes up the role of the mysterious and charming gardener Enzo. And to play the new character of Wendy Garrick, already known to readers, a real star was chosen: Kirsten Dunst joins the adventure, adding to this second part an additional aura and a poster which already makes you want to. That’s not all. This June 11, the film’s Instagram account reserved a nice surprise for fans by revealing the face of Douglas Garrick: Paul Anthony Kelly, 37, noticed in the Disney+ series Love Story dedicated to the love story between John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette. For his very first film role, he takes on a key character opposite Sydney Sweeney. His announcement? A video where he emerges from behind volume 2 of the saga, with the caption: “Welcome home, Douglas.”
The Housekeeper 2: we already know the release date
The date is already in the diaries: The Housekeeper 2 will arrive in theaters on December 17, 2027. The film will be inspired by the novel The Housekeeper’s Secrets by Freida McFadden, the second volume in a saga which has already won over millions of readers around the world. After her misadventure with the Winchesters, Millie tries to turn the page and manages to land a new position with the Garricks thanks to Nina’s recommendations despite her serious criminal past. But you can imagine it! Behind the impeccable façade of this (too) perfect little couple there is in truth a much darker mystery. Millie quickly suspects her boss Douglas of being violent towards his wife Wendy, who never leaves her room. Until the day she discovers blood on a nightgown. A detail that will change everything: armed with courage, she decides to knock on Wendy’s door for the first time…
More Freida McFadden novels coming soon to the big screen
Since the success of The Housekeeper on the big screen, all of Hollywood has been snapping up the rights to Freida McFadden’s novels. The queen of the domestic thriller is now on everyone’s lips, and adaptation projects are multiplying at breakneck speed. Apple Original Films has entrusted the adaptation of The Teacher to screenwriters Spenser Cohen and Anne Halberg, while Amazon MGM Studios has got its hands on two titles: a series based on Dead Debbie, as well as the rights to The Tenant. And that’s not all. Netflix is working on the adaptation of The Psychic, while Sony Pictures is developing a feature film around The Surrogate Mother. In just a few months, Freida McFadden has become one of the most sought-after authors in the entertainment industry. A consecration, however, well deserved for the one whose novels keep readers in suspense until the last page, and whose universe will now invade our screens for a long time. To be continued, therefore…
