It’s a consecration: actor and director Roschdy Zem will chair the jury for the 52nd edition of the Deauville American film festival (September 4 to 13, 2026), the organizers of the event announced on Thursday June 11, 2026.

At 60 years old, this figure of French cinema – who has played in around a hundred films and television series and has himself directed six feature films – succeeds in this role to the Franco-Iranian actress Golshifteh Farahani.

A popular actor

After breaking into auteur cinema from the 1990s, he established himself in more popular works like Peten 2003, ou 36 Quai des Orfèvres the following year.

The turning point in his career came in 2006 when he won a collective acting prize at the Cannes Film Festival for the film Indigènesalongside Sami Bouajila, Jamel Debbouze, Samy Naceri and Bernard Blancan.
