“ Twelve years of music, meetings and shared passion ! ” After taking over from the Little Big Place café-brasserie on June 14, 2014, Le Juxtabar will celebrate its twelve candles at the foot of Boulevard de l’Atlantique in Cherbourg (Manche).

Of the original adventure, only the cook Nicolas Travers remains, who became the boss several years ago of this landmark for music lovers and good burgers. At the back of the room, on the small stage, concerts take place every weekend or almost.

Friday June 12: energetic rock

Three groups will still be on the bill for the first anniversary evening, dedicated to rock.

We no longer present RustHead, a band born in 2018 in Cherbourg, halfway between US rock and Australian rock, with a big sound made for the stage mixing hard rock’n’roll riffs, effective choruses and maximum energy. Winner of the springboard for contemporary music in Cotentin in 2022, the group released an album, Gear upin 2024 and has been going through concerts ever since.

Another Cherbourg formation, but more recent (2022): Very Apes is a garage-punk duo composed of Harry Bonhomme on vocals and guitar and Benjamin Auffrays on drums.

Inspired by the roots of british rock and the urgency of hardcore punk, they deliver a sound that is at once nervous, raw and sincere, carried by a contagious stage energy and lyrics imbued with lucidity and emotion. Studio level, the two friends released two excellent 4-track EPs, Vol.1 et Vol.2several pieces of which are the subject of successful clips.

Third band on the menu for this evening: 13 Daggers, Bretons offering wild rock’n’roll tinged with punk and garage rock. Their set is raw, fast and festive, designed for fans of big guitars, rockabilly backbeats and nocturnal atmospheres.

Saturday June 13: blues and country

The Juxtabar is back the next day for an after-party with a taste of blues, pop-rock and country. The local trio Diezel Station is “ a mechanical three-stroke carried by a voice which immediately catches the attention and two guitars which respond with precision, lively and very effective live ”.

The group offers an energetic and melodic setideal for raising the mood, with reprises pop-rock réarrangées and original compositions, always with the aim of a clear and catchy sound.

The Cotentin duo Black Mattie will also be there. Winner of the springboard Blues smugglers in Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue, he revives the spirit of delta blues with revisited covers and original compositionsplayed in acoustic and intimate mode.

Carried by Guillaume’s voice and guitar and Fabien’s instinctive playing on dobro, resonator and harmonica, the group boasts simple, organic and very emotional music, inspired by the great names of the blues while maintaining a modern and personal approach.

Friday June 12 and Saturday June 13, 2026, the bar opens at 6 p.m., concerts start at 8:30 p.m., free entry. The Juxtabar is located at 1, boulevard de l’Atlantique in Cherbourg.
