May 30, 2026 will remain as a historic date for PSG. Winner of Arsenal at the Ferenc-Puskás stadium in Budapest, the Parisian club won its second consecutive Champions League under the orders of Spanish coach Luis Enrique. Amid the celebrations, one publication particularly caught attention. On Instagram, Sira Martinez, sit down, shared on social networks a carousel of photos from this exceptional family evening, alongside her mother Elena Cullell and her brother Pacho. But it is above all a drawing which appears among the photos which moved Internet users. We discover Luis Enrique carrying his daughter Xana on his shoulders, both, from behind, wearing a PSG jersey. A poignant image which reminds us how much the youngest of the family, now gone, remains present in the thoughts of her family. Xana died in August 2019 at the age of 9 following osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer.
A presence that accompanies Luis Enrique’s greatest moments
This drawing is not the first tribute to mark the success of the Spanish coach. Over the years, the memory of Xana has regularly appeared during the most important meetings of her career. In 2025, during PSG’s first European coronation, Parisian supporters displayed a huge tifo representing Luis Enrique alongside his daughter. An image that shocked the world of football. At the final whistle, the former Spain coach also celebrated the victory with a t-shirt referring to its foundation, created in memory of the child. This year, the design shared by Sira is part of the same movement. The 26-year-old young woman chose a symbolic image to accompany the family photos taken around the cup. A way of reminding us that Xana is still there.
His memory also continues to live on through the foundation created by Luis Enrique after his disappearance. As Bela Cullell, Xana’s aunt, explained in the columns of The Teamthe family is working in particular on the project of a residence intended to accommodate sick children and their loved ones. “We plan to open a residence (…) called Casa de las Xanas (the house of the Xanas), with around twenty accommodations.she explained. Before adding: “At present, there are no structures in Spain capable of treating and welcoming both sick children and their families.” A project that allows his memory to live on well beyond the football fields.
Luis Enrique: why did he oppose his mother after the death of her daughter Xana?
If Luis Enrique remained silent for a long time after the death of his daughter, he then explained several times the way his family maintained his memory. In the documentary You can’t understandhe confided thus: “Do I consider myself lucky or unlucky? I consider myself lucky, very lucky, Xana came to live with us for nine wonderful years. We have thousands of memories together.” The coach also said he was upset to discover that his mother had removed the photos of her granddaughter after her disappearance. A reaction that he did not share. “On a physical level she is not there, but on a spiritual level she is there, because every day we talk about her, we laugh and we remember her. Because I believe that Xana still sees us”he explained.
It was in Qatar, during the 2022 World Cup, on Xana’s birthday, that he spoke publicly about his daughter for the first time. In a video published on Instagram, the bereaved father sent a particularly moving message to his daughter: “Today, November 27, we are not only playing against Germany. It’s also a very special day because Xanita would have been 13 years old. My love, wherever you are, lots of kisses. Have a good day, we love you.” Seven years after the disappearance of the little girl, her memory continues to accompany the greatest moments of the Enrique family.
