Ha Tran inherited her father’s musical talent, then expanded her fame internationally, becoming one of the most appreciated Vietnamese singers, both in Vietnam and abroad, and participating in contemporary music projects. Father and daughter performed together on stage, creating rare and moving moments between two generations of leading Vietnamese music artists.

Huynh Tu, people’s artist – Soobin Hoang Son: Three generations of artists, from the zither to Vpop.

People’s Artist Huynh Tu is the biological father of singer Soobin Hoang Son. He told the press about his family tradition: “In my family, three generations have been involved in the arts. My parents were both artists, and my mother, the distinguished artist Le Thi Hao Yen, was very famous in the Thanh Hoa Cai Luong (traditional Vietnamese opera) troupe.”

When his son was only 3 years old, popular artist Huynh Tu taught Soobin to play the zither. At the age of 5, the young boy was taken abroad by his father to perform on stage. Later, Soobin chose the path of V-pop and became one of the leading artists of the 9X generation, without ever forgetting his roots. During his participation in the show “A brother overcoming a thousand obstacles“He wore a traditional Vietnamese tunic and played the zither during a percussion performance in tribute to his father.

He wrote on his personal page: “I would like to express my gratitude to my first teacher, the one who introduced me to music, the zither and the sounds of folk and traditional music.” People’s Artist Huynh Tu then confided to the press: “I have been waiting for this moment for more than 30 years, since Soobin was still in his mother’s womb. Although I have performed all over the world, this is the first time I have shared the stage with my son.”

Trong Tan – Tan Dat: A mentor and companion on stage.

This father-son duo has established itself as one of the most touching and inspiring figures on the North Vietnamese music scene. Vu Tan Dat, son of singer Trong Tan, was born in 2004 and first studied jazz drumming at the Vietnam National Academy of Music.

In third grade, Trong Tan discovered his son’s talent for singing by chance and decided to give him singing lessons. From then on, Tan Dat’s career took a turn towards vocal music: he won second prize in the Chamber Music category at the 2025 Hanoi Singing Competition and frequently performed alongside his father on many major stages.

Tấn Ä áºta confié un jour à VietNamNet : “My father’s notoriety doesn’t put pressure on me; I will strive to make a name for myself and not just be called the son of Trá» ng Tấn. For his part, Trá» ng Tấn does not hide his pride and has high expectations: “I hope that in the future, you will become an artist even more accomplished than your father.”

People’s Artist Tran Luc – Tran Tu: From a mischievous boy to a film actor.

Famous since the age of 6 under the nickname Tran Bom, thanks to his participation in the television game “Papa, where are we going?” Along with his father, Tran Tu was the most energetic, mischievous and funny participant on the show. Nearly twenty years later, he made his film debut in « La Génération des Miracles », released at the end of 2017.

For Tran Tu, being the son of People’s Artist Tran Luc represents both an advantage and a pressure. The advantage lies in his early introduction to the arts, while the pressure comes from the expectation of becoming a perfect version of his father. Playing in front of him accentuates this pressure, because he is both his mentor and his partner. People’s Artist Tran Luc knows how to encourage his son and help him overcome his anxiety. Appearing alongside his father on the big screen is Tran Tu’s greatest joy.

Duy Manh and Cam: A strict father, a tender son – two styles, one passion.

If Duy Mạnh is known for his direct and offbeat image, as well as for his sentimental music typical of northern Vietnam, his daughter Cầma chose a radically different path: independent, narrative and with an assertive creative personality. Cầm says she inherited her love of art from her father and grew up listening to many songs performed by Duy Mạnh, several of which he composed especially for her.

In 2025, Cam was honored in Times Square as a global ambassador for Spotify EQUAL, a campaign celebrating independent female artists who are helping to promote gender equality in the global music industry. Duy Manh was very moved to see his daughter flourish. He had a lot of worries when she decided to go into show business, but he is relieved to see her on the right path. Cam said of his father: “Dad may seem a little harsh at first, but he is very warm. When I asked him something, he never refused.”
