“Toy Story 5” arrives in cinemas in June 2026: what we know about the film which tackles the question of screens, with Bad Bunny in the cast

A highly anticipated animated film. The Pixar studio unveiled this Tuesday, May 26, the latest trailer for the fifth installment of Toy Storywhich is scheduled for theatrical release in June. The plot will address the issue of screen addiction

For this new adventure, Woody, Buzz and Jessie will have to face technology. The film will address an essential subject: the danger of screens for young people. The big “bad guy” of this new feature film is a touchscreen tablet, in the shape of a frog, called Lilypad. This one arrives in the life of Bonnie, now eight years old, and will turn the daily lives of the other toys upside down.

After their separation at the end of the fourth opus, Woody will make his return in Toy Story 5as shown in the trailer. For her part, Jessie will play a more important role compared to previous films and will always be supported by Buzz Lightyear. New characters will also appear such as an army of defective Buzz Lightyears or Smarty Pants, a toy supposed to teach cleanliness to the youngest.

The original cast returns

In France, Jean-Philippe Puymartin (Woody), Richard Darbois (Buzz l’Eclair), Barbara Tissier (Jessie), Henri Guybet (Rex), Patrick Prejean (Bayonne) and even Pierre Niney (Fourchette) and Audrey Fleurot (Bergère) will return to their original characters.

Ditto, on the United States side. Tom Hanks will reunite with Woody, and Tim Allen will once again lend his voice to the character of Buzz Lightyear. The actress Greta Lee (Tron : Ares, Sisters), for its part, will double the new antagonist Lilypad. The television host and master of ceremonies OscarsConan O’Brien sera Smarty Pants. 

Bad Bunny as a slice of pizza

But the animation studio revealed a surprise regarding the casting. The Pixar studio announced on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 the arrival of a new headliner to lend his voice to a new character in the franchise. Singer Bad Bunny, star of the Super Bowl 2026 halftime show, will play a piece of pizza with particularly festive black sunglasses.

A toy described as “naturally cool and mysterious. He is part of a small but valiant community of forgotten toys who live hidden in an abandoned garden shed”, indicates the official press release from Disney Pixar Studios.

While the latest trailer was revealed on Tuesday May 26, 2026, the release of Toy Story 5 is now official. In France, this animated feature film long awaited by many generations will be released on June 17, 2026 at the cinema. It should then be available on the Disney+ streaming platform.
