The director Florent Siaud is showing in two Parisian theaters with a play inspired by Woolf and an opera by Mozart.

Director Florent Siaud is making his mark on the Parisian stage this spring with a prestigious double feature, deploying his artistic universe in two major institutions: the Comédie-Française and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées. By simultaneously presenting an intimate play and a grandiose opera, he demonstrates the extent of his creative palette, navigating between the introspective literature of Virginia Woolf and the musical genius of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Virginia Woolf envoûte la Comédie-Française

At the Studio-Théâtre de la Comédie-Française, the play *Lumiéres, Lumières, Lumières* is currently enjoying great critical and public success. Presented until June 28, 2026, this creation is a sensitive adaptation by Quebec author Evelyne de la Chenelière of the famous novel *A Walk to the Lighthouse* by Virginia Woolf. Florent Siaud’s direction explores the subtle and complex encounter between two female figures from the novel, played by the actresses Florence Viala and Aymeline Alix.

The play focuses on the tense and fascinated relationship between Madame Ramsay, a Victorian woman model, and Lily Briscoe, an independent artist. The text, praised by the press, plunges the viewer into the twists and turns of thought, memory and the passing of time, themes dear to Virginia Woolf. This co-production between the Comédie-Française and the Quebec company Les songes turbulents was developed with a creative team loyal to the director, including Romain Fabre on scenography and Nicolas Descôteaux on lights.

Information and reservations are available on the Comédie-Française website (https://r.mail.isabellegillouard.com/mk/cl/f/sh/7nVU1aA2ng01R5I1BkoyZo9FvqeYfK5/cUUESb6CUsbz).

A contemporary Mozart at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées

At the same time, Florent Siaud is preparing a new production of Mozart’s *L’Enlèvement au sérail*, which will be presented at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées from June 1 to 12, 2026. Under the musical direction of Laurence Equilbey, at the Headed by the Insula orchestra and the accentus choir, this rereading of the opera promises to shake up the codes of traditional “Turkishness”.

The director aims to transform the Mozartian *singspiel* into a contemporary tale, where fantasy and humor interact with a deeper analysis of power relations, desire and the quest for freedom. The cast brings together renowned soloists such as Jessica Pratt in the role of Konstanze and Amitai Pati in that of Belmonte.

Reservations for this event are open on the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées website (https://r.mail.isabellegillouard.com/mk/cl/f/sh/7nVU1aA2ng3nQ8Id8tHseWmsGZe89D7/bEG5bE46GYzS).

The director’s vision

Asked about his approach to Mozart’s work, Florent Siaud refuses to confine it to simple entertainment. “The work is much more complex than simple entertainment. Mozart here combines comedy, disorder, sensuality and violence. We wanted to make it a contemporary tale, where laughter coexists with very current questions about power, relationships of domination and inner freedom » he explains.

This vision translates into a scenography designed to be both a concrete place and a mental space. HAS” I imagined a space that is both concrete and mental: a seraglio that becomes a human laboratory, crossed by the desires, fears and fantasies of the characters. The images, the light and the decor accompany this dive into their inner life., continues Florent Siaud.

What particularly touches the director in this opera is its profound duality. HAS” There is the spontaneity of youth, the momentum of musical theater, but also a fascinating psychological depth and moral ambiguity. Behind the apparent lightness, Mozart already looks at the world with great lucidity » he concludes. A double artistic proposition which confirms Florent Siaud as one of the most stimulating creators of his generation.
