This Wednesday, Sigourney Weaver is starring in the film “Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu” alongside Pedro Pascal. Encounter.
When she began her career in the seventh art, Sigourney Weaver did not imagine moving towards science fiction. Better still, she wasn’t even considering a career in cinema. A shame for the woman who achieved recognition with Ridley Scott’s film “Alien, the Eighth Passenger,” in 1979. “The science fiction I grew up with was things like “Flash Gordon,” where you could see that everything was made of aluminum foil. I was a bit of a snob when I started. I just wanted to work with Mike Nichols. And you know, I think I was much more interested in theater, and I hadn’t really thought about the fact that you could have a wonderful career in cinema,” she told us a few weeks ago.

At 76 years old, she is starring in the feature film “Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu”, directed by Jon Favreau, alongside Pedro Pascal. The first film in the “Star Wars” franchise in seven years, in theaters this Wednesday, May 20. “When I started, studios and theater owners were obsessed with appealing to a white, male audience, 18 to 21 years old, more or less. They weren’t really interested in stories that didn’t appeal to that audience. Today, it seems very distant. I think there is another recognition of what women bring to cinema, and of what the public is really interested in. Studios also want to attract women. I know this because I’ve done commercials for it: the studio really wants women to come see “The Mandalorian†, and I think they should come. It’s moving, funny too. This is not a program “for little boys†, it really is for everyone. And I think it’s thanks to Jon Favreau. HAS”
“I don’t care much about the roleâ€
In “Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu”, Sigourney Weaver once again confirms the extent of her talent. After more than forty years of career, the American actress has lost none of her splendor. His secret? “I don’t know… When I started, I had a very modest goal: to be an actress that people wanted to work with again. That way I could continue working with people I probably liked. And this goal has remained the same. I often worked with the same people. And I think… I don’t know… I think I’m very lucky. I think I have a reputation for being up for it, you know? That is to say, I’m not going to act snobbish. I used to be, but I’m not anymore. Now I’ll go anywhere for a good story. I don’t have any rules between comedy and drama, and I don’t really care about the role. I just want to be part of something cool that I would want to see myself. HAS”
