At the Patio, Saturday evening May 9, the stage had been set up outside, the sound and instruments positioned and the lights ready to illuminate the artists. A slight worry came from the sky in which no stars shone but he knew how to be merciful.
Invited by the Mouvances association, the Cargo group offered blues and rock music. “In a cargo ship, there are lots of humanity, so we sail: do you want to sail with us?” proposed the singer Agnès. And the titles followed one another with this group whose name was chosen somewhat at random. The first time it was programmed at the Café de la Poste in Aspiran, a name and photos were needed to promote it. The wind was blowing hard, Cali arrived wearing a cap, like a boat captain: “The name was found, it would be Cargo.”
Musicians from all backgrounds
The musicians come from Tressan, Lodève, Montpellier… and from different artistic worlds. Raphaëla started playing the ukulele at age 7. He then learned guitar with Julien Chaussat at the music school. He composes a lot and will release an album of 4 tracks (Raphaël F.) He wants to make music his profession but, at the same time, he is pursuing sound engineering studies. Patrick works in live performance but has always been self-taught in percussion. Gilles, the drummer, is a stage manager in live entertainment. Cali is the bassist for Têtes stiffes. He is also a carpenter.
Finally, Agnèsa trained as a classical singer and learned to play the transverse flute at the conservatory. “I started to sing in a jam, encouraged by my son Raphaël, a very complicated but very educational exercise. When I sing, I have the impression of offering my intimacy, she explains. It’s a vibration that I love. Music accompanies me every day, makes me blossom.”
And it is of course the music that motivates the whole group who will return to play on September 26 at the Café de la Poste in Aspiran.
