This year, guests had to interpret the Fashion Is Art dress code, in conjunction with the Costume Institute’s Costume Art exhibition. A rather broad instruction, which left room for sculptural silhouettes, references to art history, spectacular dresses and, of course, a few fashion moments which caused a reaction.

Where to watch the Met Gala 2026 in Quebec?

Live from the 2026 Met Gala red carpet will begin on Monday, May 4 at 6 p.m. Quebec time. In Quebec, it will be possible to watch the Met Gala 2026 red carpet online.

The livestream official will be presented exclusively by Vogue, on its digital platforms, as well as on YouTube and TikTok. The live show will be hosted by Ashley Graham, La La Anthony and Cara Delevingne, with Emma Chamberlain returning as red carpet correspondent.

What is the theme for the 2026 Met Gala?

The theme of the 2026 exhibition is Costume Art. The idea: explore the links between clothing, the body and art through the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The exhibition will place fashion pieces in dialogue with works from the museum’s various collections. It will focus in particular on several representations of the body, including the naked body, the classic body, the pregnant body and the aging body.

What is the dress code for the Met Gala 2026?

The 2026 Met Gala dress code is Fashion Is Art.

On the red carpet, guests will therefore have to interpret fashion as a form of art. We can already imagine sculptural silhouettes, references to art history, painting dresses, theatrical volumes and some more conceptual looks.

What is the difference between theme and dress code?

This is an important nuance. The theme of the exhibition is Costume Art. It guides the museum’s curatorial thinking.

The dress code is Fashion Is Art. It serves as a creative starting point for red carpet looks. In short: the exhibition talks about clothing in the history of art, while the guests will have to show, each in their own way, how fashion can become a work in itself.

Which stars will be at the 2026 Met Gala?

As always, the official guest list is kept secret until the same evening. That said, some names are already associated with the event because of their official role.

The welcoming committee includes Zoe Kravitz, Anthony Vaccarello, Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, LISA, Teyana Taylor, A’ja Wilson, Yseult, Angela Bassett, Gwendoline Christie, Alex Consani, Misty Copeland, Elizabeth Debicki and Sam Smith.

Other presences are also the subject of rumors. According to Cosmopolitan, personalities like Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa, Bad Bunny, Billie Eilish, Timothée Chalamet, Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Hailey Bieber, Rosé, Jennie, RosalÃa, Sarah Jessica Parker, Anne Hathaway, Sydney Sweeney, SZA, Pharrell Williams, Cardi B, Miley Cyrus, Gigi Hadid, Naomi Campbell and Harry Styles would be among the names expected or mentioned.

To be taken with a grain of salt, therefore. After all, at the Met Gala, surprises are part of the show.

Can we watch the full gala?

Not really. The Met Gala is not broadcast like a typical awards ceremony. The public can follow the arrivals on the red carpet, but once the guests enter the museum, the evening takes place mainly behind closed doors.

Inside, phones are generally prohibited, which severely limits images shared live. According to Voguethe proceedings usually include a cocktail, a dinner, a visit to the exhibition and a performance kept secret until the time comes, but this part of the evening is not broadcast to the public

What to remember from the Met Gala 2026

The 2026 Met Gala will take place on Monday, May 4, in New York. The theme of the exhibition is Costume Art, while the dress code is Fashion Is Art. The red carpet will be broadcast live on the digital platforms of Vogueas well as on YouTube and TikTok, from 6 p.m., Quebec time.

It now remains to be seen which stars will climb the steps of the Met, and above all, who will succeed in transforming the theme of the year into a real fashion moment.
