This is your first at the Aluna festival, how are you approaching this new experience?
WEB: “We’re very excited, especially when we discover an additional festival. It’s also a lot of pride for us because in the development of our artistic project, doing festivals brings us a bit of fame. It’s super rewarding. And then the stage is really the thing that animates us the most. We’re very excited to unveil the new set we’ve prepared, to play our new sounds live and have fun with the audience.”
Can you tell us the story of the group?
“We have a common universe, even if initially we had different ties to music in our youth. Some of us met at high school, then at the musicology faculty in Bordeaux, about six years ago. We immediately started making music through small stages and springboards. It was a project fairly oriented around the urban at the base. As we did open scenes, we noticed that what really made us enjoy it was being on stage. So we started to develop rock sounds until 2023. Then, we met Matt who came on drums in the project. This is the beginning of the Web and what we are today.”
In your universe we find a slightly retro style from the years 2000-2010. Is this what pleases the public to find this musical genre?
“We have the impression that in urban or pop projects, there is more and more this return to instruments and pop rock sounds. This period of the years 2000-2010 is coming back a little to the taste of the day. And then nostalgia is a very powerful emotion. This makes us want to really develop our music and our live performance even more. The public might want to see that again. Our universe can really bring to mind this era, but also with a lot of modernity. It’s not at all a style of music that people listen to at first glance in France. We have a lot of pride in saying that we can do what we love and that people understand us through what we offer. We’re going to try to reinstate the rock vibe in France (laughs).”
Your latest EP (extended play) has just been released, with a flagship title entitled Perfect doll, is this the emergence of a new project for the group?
« Absolument. Perfect doll is the first single from our EP, released on March 20. Two years of work have come to fruition. We chose this title because it was the one that best represented the themes and musicality that we address in the project. It’s a super rock title, but also very pop, whether in the colors of the clip or in the colors of the visuals. It’s pink, it’s white, it’s sunny… In the end, it’s something that represents us quite a bit. Clearly, this is the first chapter of a new page for WEB. »
