Flea markets, shepherd’s trail, and Izi Sunday: the weekend of May 1st offered all kinds of activities in Aniane. On Sunday, May 3rd, the rustic setting of the Jardin Saint-Rome hosted the first Izi Sunday event where three musical groups (Ukulélé club, Balu et Borumba, and Bois Vert) were in charge of fighting the grayness of the day. A mural, a solidarity fripe sale, and games were offered during this day dedicated to solidarity, with the proceeds from the bar being donated to the Saint-André-de-Sangonis branch of the Secours Populaire. “We radiate over several municipalities, including Aniane,” explained volunteers Célia and Claire. In total, the Secours Populaire helps households in 13 municipalities in the Hérault Valley and Saint-Félix-de-Lodez (Clermontais community). The reception, solidarity, and health office (PASS) is held three times a week in the Saint-André site. “We welcome many single-parent families, people who cannot work full-time,” said Célia and Claire. With its goal of combining culture and solidarity, Izi Sunday will be back on Sundays, May 17th and 31st.
