Some days are like that, unexpectedly, something happens. Like every day, you might say! Certainly, but on this April Sunday in the lands of Najac, there was this extra dose of charm emanating from music. Or rather from all the music of the world. Without limit or restriction, even if music theory always insists that a whole note is worth two half notes…
There remains this universal truth, that music is the only language on the planet that everyone can understand, hear, and share without being forced into endless studies or immersions.
So, when we talk about sharing and exchanging through instruments, sound systems, and all these accessories that define the West Aveyron region, we think of Occazique in Najac; around the Najac-Antraygues duo, and their close-knit team, once a year, those who want to sell records, CDs, instruments and others make their pilgrimage to the gates of the medieval city. And the images are striking, like this one trying to sell a hurdy-gurdy to a potential buyer, while in the background a few notes of Chopin escaped from an old upright piano while friend Gilou promoted her festival, des Chiens bleus. It is this synergy, born of differences, that the association Cultura Najac carries. With Occazique, but also with the medieval market announced for this Ascension Thursday, May 14.
In any case, there will be some very beautiful things happening between the Rue du Bourguet, the Governor’s House, and the fortress of Najac the medieval city.
