On Saturday, May 2nd, on 50mn Inside, Nikos Aliagas opened up to Isabelle Ithurburu about a very significant episode in his personal history. The host discussed his birth, which was marked by a rare digestive malformation as he was born with two stomachs, and an operation that was carried out when he was only three weeks old. This very early intervention in a fragile context undoubtedly shaped the beginning of his life. As he grew up, he said he integrated this story as a part of himself, with the feeling of having experienced life differently, without letting it define him entirely. “Did you grow up with the idea that you were a miracle?” Isabelle Ithurburu asked Nikos Aliagas. “Certainly, I grew up with that idea: I am not like others and I have to hide my pain,” he responded. Approaching his 57th birthday, the famous presenter now claims to keep no scars.

Nikos Aliagas opens up about the malformation that marked his birth

According to Nikos Aliagas, this trial experienced at birth not only marked his childhood, but it also influenced his way of moving forward in life and in his career. The host explains that it pushed him, in a way, to find his place in the spotlight. “In general, all of us who are in the limelight, in one way or another, have something to address with a pain or a need to prove something to a father or a mother,” he shared. In a more introspective tone, he also reflected on the passing of time and the unpredictability of life: “I do not know where I will be tomorrow. Life sometimes surprises us. Just look around us, those who leave, those who stay. Nothing is guaranteed, nothing belongs to us, but as long as you are here, try,” the host shared, father of Agathe and Andreas born from his relationship with Greek psychologist Tina Grigoriou.

His doubts before returning to 50mn Inside as a guest

Three years after stepping down from hosting 50mn Inside, Nikos Aliagas admitted that it was not entirely obvious for him to return as a guest. The one who had long embodied the program explained that he took the time to reflect and weigh the pros and cons before accepting this invitation, torn between the desire to reunite with the show and the fear of a somewhat artificial return. “I hesitated before going. I presented this show for many years […] So how do you go naturally without being something artificial?” he shared on Instagram, a reflection that shows his attachment to the program and his history with it. Ultimately, he chose to go with the flow and return to the set alongside Isabelle Ithurburu, with whom he said he had “a lovely moment,” in an atmosphere that was both simple and filled with memories.
