Who doesn’t remember the iconic duo formed by Cécilia Cara and Damien Sargue between 2001 and 2003? Both main actors of the musical comedy Roméo et Juliette, they were the couple that made many French people dream. However, when the adventure came to an end two years after the premiere, Damien Sargue was not actually so unhappy… Still very young at the time, the actor and singer needed to find himself in a simpler and less demanding life. To mark this new beginning, the first thing he did was to cut his hair, as he had been forced to wear it long for two years.

Damien Sargue was lost

“I was fed up with the hair right away. After the last performance of Roméo, the next day I went to see Laurent Falcon (his hairdresser, editor’s note) to tell him: ‘Cut my hair.’ I wanted more of this head. It was a bit liberating! It must be remembered that I was twenty years old at the beginning, twenty-two at the end. At twenty-two, you’re not really formed as a guy yet. I needed to find myself as a man, to know who I wasâ€, he explained in a recent interview with our colleagues from Gala.

After feeling like nothing but Roméo for two years, the young man needed to find himself as a person. However, Damien Sargue absolutely has no regrets about this wonderful experience. “I don’t want to say find myself, but just find myself. Cut his hair, cut ties with Roméo, with this crazy adventure, and breatheâ€, he was quick to clarify. Today, over twenty years after the end of the musical that made him famous, Damien Sargue still says he’s ready to take on the role of Roméo again.

Thanks to the experience and maturity gained in recent years, the one who also participated in Dancing with the Stars in 2013 ensures that he would have much less trouble dealing with the constraints related to success. As for the hair, he would still ask to wear… a wig. “You know what? I do it without any worries. Some things are done so well now that it looks natural, even up close. I have no problem with it. If the role requires long hair, I’m happy to do itâ€, he joked.
