ESMOD Lyon and Le Foyer Notre-Dame des Sans-Abri have joined forces to create “Sortie d’Atelier.” This unique collection of upcycled jeans, designed by students using recycled textiles, showcases a new way of producing fashion that is more responsible, inclusive, and rooted in the local community. With a nod to Lyon’s history and the invention of cinema in Lyon.
The Foyer Notre-Dame des Sans-Abri collaborates with ESMOD Lyon to bring to life a unique, committed, and creative collection: the “Sortie d’Atelier” collection.
Starting with over 700 second-hand jeans, 70 students have created a 100% upcycled capsule collection, blending style and responsibility. The collection includes caps, bags, jackets, and shorts, all revamped in patchwork denim.
The theme of “Sortie d’Atelier” pays tribute to Lyon’s heritage and the birth of the Lumière brothers’ cinema. It echoes Louis Lumière’s 1895 film “Sortie d’usine,” considered the first film in cinema history. Similarly, the patchwork pieces recompose material to give it a new life.
A selection of exclusive pieces, made in limited quantities by individuals trained in sewing, is available exclusively at La Friperie du Foyer starting April 25th. This stylish and supportive boutique, run by individuals in professional training, offers trendy second-hand textiles that combine social and circular economy. All proceeds will support the Foyer Notre-Dame des Sans-Abri’s social actions.
Don’t miss this solidarity event at La Friperie in Passage Thiaffait, Lyon 1st, on April 25, 2026, from 3 pm to 6 pm.
