The city of Moncton is considered the capital of vintage car enthusiasts and restored speedsters in Atlantic Canada. It’s no wonder that the 52nd edition of the Radical Speed Sport Car Show attracted over 20,000 enthusiasts over the weekend at the Moncton Coliseum.
Visitors were treated to a diverse menu, featuring several celebrities, various articles, and 265 displayed speedsters. The show at the elegant amphitheater included a 100-year-old Chevrolet, a dragster family, and thousands of accessories.
Promoter Joe Savoie is not surprised by the excitement generated by this annual event. “Moncton is certainly the epicenter of antique or restored vehicle culture in the Maritimes,” he said. “There are such events everywhere, but the two largest in the Maritimes are here. We compete with the biggest events of this kind in Canada.”
According to Savoie, people’s deep personal attachment to speedsters often stems from childhood or adolescence memories. “I don’t know how many times I’ve heard someone tell me: my grandfather had one when I was young, and I loved riding with him,” Savoie shared.
“Television programs on the restoration of vintage cars, like Rust Valley Restorers, have also had a significant impact,” the promoter added. “The goal of all our exhibitions remains the same: to offer people from all over the Atlantic region a unique and authentic experience.”
