2026 continues to deliver devastating news. After the announcement of the closure of the Sample in Bagnolet, our beloved Station – Gare des Mines in the 18th informs us of its sad interruption. This Wednesday, April 15th, in the evening, the MU Collective – leading the project – declares the temporary closure (phew) of La Station for almost three years. This marks the end of a chapter after ten years of existence. So, if you have created here, lived here, or just found something that resonates with you, it’s time to support the place to keep the project alive.
A sanctuary for Parisians for 10 years Launched in June 2016 on Avenue de la Porte d’Aubervilliers, La Station – Gare des Mines is one of the most unique venues in the Parisian scene. A spot that brings together around concerts, club nights, webradio, artistic residencies, solidarity workshops, gardening… In a building that encourages meetings and community. Because La Station is also this: a space and a refuge for visibility for all queer and marginalized communities, with a regular program of support and solidarity actions for displaced people. La Station represents Parisians in all their diversity.
Three years of closure starting this fall The good news is that the closure is not permanent. Indeed, the City of Paris supports the sustainability of the venue, after ten years of renewable precarious leases year after year. This recognition comes at a cost, as the venue closes its doors for renovations for three years starting this fall, in order to find a new renewed neighborhood, with a brand new Station at its heart.
During this transitional period, the venue’s mission is to find a temporary space to keep the team and projects alive, in order to perpetuate the spirit of La Station. Because three years of closure is long for a structure that relies 85% on its own revenue (ticketing, bar…) and only 15% on public subsidies. The MU Collective is therefore calling for donations during this period and is also implementing a support rate on certain events, for those who can afford it.
Meanwhile, until October 31st, La Station – Gare des Mines continues to make us vibrate, always with the same artistic exigency and unconditional support for emerging talents. So until autumn, we continue. We continue to come listen to music, party, participate in workshops… The future is still to be written.
