The 3rd Festival of Music and Sounds at the cinema, prepared by the associative cinema Culture et Cinéma in L’Isle en Dodon, took place from March 30th to April 12th. Thirteen intense days of vibrant cinema, with eleven eclectic screenings, and over 200 spectators in attendance.
The last Saturday night confirmed the success and great atmosphere of this event, which plays a significant role in the cultural landscape of Comminges.
“A promising outcome,” said Pascal Le Vaillant, president of the associative cinema Culture et Cinéma, recalling the start on Monday, March 30th, with internationally renowned trumpeter Aymeric Avice and his accomplices Benoît Convers and Thibaud Soulas of the Happy Moon Trio warming up the audience before the film Ange, by Tony Gatlif. A record start for the festival. The Vassiliu evening, from Pierre to daughter, then offered an intimate journey through the singer’s work, combining documentary and live concert by Lena Vassiliu.
This formula is the DNA of the festival, where images and music interact, naturally filling the room. In terms of discoveries, the KPop session around the film-concert Stray Kids: The DominATE Experience attracted loyal and curious attendees, sometimes from afar, demonstrating the festival’s influence beyond the region.
“The highlight,” Pascal Le Vaillant continued, “was the closing on Saturday, April 11th, with a morning session of musical illustration of a silent film by Buster Keaton, performed by Nicolas Di Costanzo on drums and sound effects, and Antoine Moulard on the piano. In the evening, the Labo 7, formed by mêmes and Rémy Rimbaud, all three teachers at the Musical’Isle school, composed and performed the final cine-concert, based on the film The Artist. Magical moments.”
As a bonus the next day, the Friends of the Organs offered a concert by the Mandolinata de Tarbes, with the support of Culture et Cinéma. The program included some famous film music, a friendly nod to extend the spirit of the Festival.
The organizers invite the public to next year’s fourth edition, which promises to be even more ambitious.
