The first Australian cinema festival was a success on Saturday, April 11 and Sunday, April 12, with a varied program offered. Mayor Jean-Louis Raynady welcomed this first edition and thanked all those involved in its preparation, especially Bernard Bories.
Bories spoke, mentioning his parents who spent part of the year in their family home in Nayrac, as well as his brother-in-law Bruno, who contributed to the preparation of these days before passing away in January. He discussed his passion for Australian cinema and culture before presenting a slideshow on Australia, particularly on Aboriginal painting where nature is omnipresent, connected to the land, water, and plants referencing the sacred world. The films screened will explore the diversity of this country through various perspectives: the adventure of a young Aboriginal woman in the heart of the bush, behind-the-scenes of a music festival, rural dramas, and the life of a renowned Aboriginal painter. The event will feature gourmet breaks with fouace pastries made by volunteers, Torpez wines from Saint-Tropez, and champagne provided by Roadsign, a festival partner.
This first edition concluded with applause and the promise of a return in 2027.
