“I shed my tear just now…” In a Twitch live this Thursday, June 11, Carlito (real name Raphaël Carlier, son of Guy Carlier) reacted to the fire which struck the Belsia factory, in Eure-et-Loir. On June 1, the YouTuber announced, with his longtime friend McFly (David Coscas), the launch of their Brosti brand of chips after “months and months of work.” Except that nothing went as planned. This Wednesday, Republican East announced that the factory in which the two YouTubers, who provoked the anger of Juju Fitcats last year, produce their chips had been hit by a fire.
The factory “largely collapsed”
60 firefighters were dispatched to the site, the six employees who were in the factory were able to be evacuated without being injured. The building, unfortunately, largely collapsed. If the causes of the fire remain to be determined, the accidental route is favored by the police.
Lieutenant-Colonel Fabien Lecuirot, commander of relief operations, declared Republican East : “We were called, around 2:30 p.m., to an industrial fire in a food fryer in the Belsia factory. When we arrived, the building was completely engulfed in flames. It has largely collapsed. The spread of the flames was very rapidin view of the combustible materials which were located in this production plant.” The Belsia factory is relatively young, since it was built by Matthieu and Clémence Maisons in 2016.
A brand launched on June 1st… ten days ago
For McFly and Carlito, who have more than 8 million subscribers on YouTube, it’s heartbreaking: “I’m in a paranoid mode now, I find it suspicious (…). I’m going through a lot of emotions” confided Carlito, who lost his mother last September.
The objective of the Brosti brand is to offer chips with diverse and varied tastes, such as “couscous merguez” or “strawberry whipped cream”. Accustomed to doing blind food tastings on their YouTube channel, the two content creators are passionate about flavors of all kinds. On June 1, they announced the launch of their brand by going directly to the 4,000 square meter factory in Eure-et-Loir: “What pride! Our chips are there, wavy, crunchy, produced on the farm, artisanal and delicious.” A 70-minute video was published for the occasion on their YouTube channel, entitled: “Our chips are ready. We’ll tell you everything”. If, for the moment, the causes remain unknown, there is no doubt that McFly and Carlito will provide more information on the accident in the coming days.
