The entire political class sent its thoughts to the family of young Lihanna, 11 years old, who disappeared on May 29, 2026 in Gers, after the discovery of the body of a child “wearing similar clothes” to hers this Thursday, June 4.

There is unanimous sadness and anger across all political camps. Just a few hours after learning that the body of a child, “wearing similar clothes” to those of Lyhanna, had been discovered this Thursday, June 4, the French political class condemned this affair as a whole, a sign of profound dysfunctions of justice.

“It’s revolting (…). It’s time for that to change”, writes on alerts”.

“Our country mistreats children, and I am sincerely upset that Lyhanna is the latest victim,” says the presidential candidate before attacking “the patriarchal culture that has plagued us for millennia.”

Same criticism from Mathilde Panot, leader of the rebellious deputies in the National Assembly, who regrets on X “so much time wasted, testimonies and complaints ignored”.

“Immense thoughts this evening for Lyhanna, for her parents, her loved ones. For all those who are gripped by fear and anger,” she wrote.

“It is the result of systemic patriarchal domination, of years of underfunding of justice, of disregard for the words of children. Years of refusing to see the explosion that is the violence committed against them in our society”, summarizes the rebel.

“Our justice system is bankrupt”

Bruno Retailleau, for his part, pointed out a case where “everything is revolting”, on

The head of the Republicans judges that “our judicial system is bankrupt” and that it will need to be “fundamentally reformed”, citing “a vital emergency”.

For Jordan Bardella, the entire country “is horrified by the tragic fate of young Lyhanna”, but also “revolted by the inaction of the public authorities” due to the numerous complaints and reports targeting the suspect but which did not result in any hearing.

“This terrible tragedy could, and should, have been avoided if the judicial institution had not experienced such dysfunctions. The State has seriously failed and the French people demand accountability,” writes the president of the National Rally.

Another candidate in the presidential election, Édouard Philippe says he is “sad and angry” and wonders: “when the words of a child are collected or reported, why doesn’t the entire state channel immediately go on alert?”

This calls for “creating a real precautionary principle in the face of violence against children” by prioritizing complaints filed by minors and speeding up procedures. “Children’s words count. Let’s listen to them. Let’s protect them,” writes the mayor of Le Havre and boss of Horizons.

At a time when criticism is pouring out on the functioning of justice in the Lyhanna affair, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice admitted Thursday evening on the set of BFMTV the existence of a “dysfunction” of the State and “holes in the racket”.

Gérald Darmanin, the Minister of Justice himself, considered the slow processing of complaints surrounding the suspect in the Lyhanna affair to be “completely unacceptable” this Thursday evening. Sébastien Lecornu is bringing together Gérald Darmanin and his Interior colleague Laurent Nuñez for a situation update this Friday morning.
