Senator Laurent Burgoa from Gard has visited local elected officials twice since being elected in 2020. Accompanied by his assistant, he met with new mayors and councilors after the recent municipal elections on Thursday, April 23. The meeting included the participation of almost two-thirds of the councilors or deputies.
After a welcome presentation of the municipality by Mayor Christophe Zaragoza, the new elected officials were introduced. The mayor briefly discussed ongoing municipal projects and their progress, as well as some more general issues. They discussed various projects and funding sources with the senator such as road infrastructure, insulation works, solar parks, potential medical center, fire protection, and illegal constructions.
The senator highlighted his role as an elected representative and his connection to the local community. He emphasized the diversity of the territory, activities, traditions, rural life, fishing ports, mountains, snow, and agriculture. He stressed the importance of regular communication and the need for the state to address even the smallest issues. He expressed his desire to welcome young councilors from the children’s council to visit the Senate and mentioned the financial needs of the less affluent in relation to the OLD.
