Showers begin to return the forecast, but mainly inland
200 PEOPLE HAD TO BE EVACUATED FROM THAT AREA. >> GULF COAST WEATHER CERTIFIED MOST ACCURATE >> SO HOT OUT THERE RIGHT IT’S FOR SURE. IT’S HOT. AND I WANT TO ASK YOU, I TOLD YOU THE MOON LOOKS BEAUTIFUL TONIGHT AND I RAN AND I ASKED, I SAID, WAIT, WHAT PLANETS DO WE SEE OUT THERE TONIGHT THAT LOOKS OKAY. ARE YOU CAN LAST NIGHT AS WELL INTO NIGHT. ISAIAS OF THE MOON JUST TO THE SOUTH WAS VENUS A LITTLE BIT FARTHER. THAT WAS JUPITER. >> TOMORROW, YOU’LL BE ABLE TO THIS AGAIN, KIND OF NOT AS CLOSE TO THE MOON, BUT AGAIN, SOUTH. A NICE WELCOME BRIGHT SKY WILL SIDEKICK LOVE LOOKING AT THE STARS AND THE PLANETS PLANETS. WE ARE GOING TO BE LOOKING AT A HIGH HEAT AND HUMIDITY RIGHT THROUGH THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. HERE’S THING WE GET RAIN BACK IN THE FORECAST. NOT FOR EVERYBODY. IT WILL FAVOR INLAND SPOTS. DOES THAT MEAN OUR COASTAL REGIONS ARE JUST OUT OF LUCK? ABSOLUTELY NOT. WE HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF RAIN HEADED YOUR WAY. WE’RE GONNA GO THROUGH THE EXTENDED FORECAST ALL THE WAY THROUGH SATURDAY TO HELP PLAN YOUR FATHER’S DAY WEEKEND. NOW IT’S REALLY UNCOMFORTABLE FOR TONIGHT BECAUSE, HEY, IT’S HIGH HUMIDITY. THIS IS WHAT WE EXPECT THIS TIME OF YEAR. HOWEVER, IT IS A COUPLE DEGREES HIGHER ON THE DEW POINTS SCALE THAN WHAT WE WOULD TYPICALLY EXPECT. AND THAT’S GOING TO ADD IN THAT HEAT INDEX FOR TOMORROW. TYPICALLY THIS TIME OF YEAR, WE EXPECT THAT HEAT INDEX TO BE IN THE TRIPLE DIGITS, AT LEAST 100 DEGREES TO GET CLOSER TO 110. THAT DOESN’T HAPPEN TOO OFTEN. THE REASON WHY IS BECAUSE WE’RE NOT GETTING A LOT OF THAT RAIN, WE’RE REALLY HAVING THIS TEMPERATURES SOAR SOURCE OR HERE’S WHAT WE GET SOME CLOUD COVER. BUILDING SOME DARK CLOUDS BUILDING IN THAT TEMPERATURE KIND OF STOPS. NOW IT’S JUST BUILDING BUILDING BECAUSE WE KNOW HOW PULL OFF. THAT WILL CHANGE. BUT THE TEMPERATURES ARE GOING TO STAY RATHER WARM NOTE ON SATURDAY THAT HEAT INDEX IS ONLY A MERE 103. AND THAT’S BECAUSE WE HAVE A LITTLE BIT MORE RAIN POSSIBLY ON THAT DAY. WE’LL SHOW FUTURE CAST IN A MOMENT. BY THE WAY, TOMORROW MORNING, MORE OF THE SAME UPPER 70’S, EVEN LOW 80’S. BUT YOU DON’T COOL OFF INTO THE 70’S AT NIGHT. IT’S SO WARM. 74 FOR THE BELL. 75 FOR IMMOKALEE NOW FOR TOMORROW. MID-NINETIES AVERAGE FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR IS 91. AND THAT CONSISTENT PERSISTENT ONSHORE WIND IS KEEPING THAT HUMIDITY IN PLACE THAT WIND DIRECTION IS ALSO GOING TO HAVE A ROLE IN WHERE THE STORM MOST OF THEM WILL BE INLAND. AGAIN, WE’LL SHOW YOU IN A MOMENT. LET’S TALK ABOUT THE 7 DAY FORECAST. 40% CHANCE FOR FRIDAY SATURDAY. THAT’S GOING TO BE OUR HIGHEST RAIN CHANCE GOING FORWARD FOR SUNDAY AND INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK. A LITTLE BIT MORE DRIER AIR IN THE ATMOSPHERE, NOT SO MUCH AT THE SURFACE WHERE WE ARE. IT’S AND HUMID. BUT WHEN YOU LOOK AT ALL OF THE ATMOSPHERE IS A LITTLE BIT DRIER. SO WE STILL HAVE SOME RAIN, JUST MAYBE NOT AS MUCH LIKE WHAT WE’VE HAD AND NOTICE HOW THOSE HIGH TEMPERATURES ARE ELEVATED INTO THE MID 90’S. ALL RIGHT. LET’S WALK YOU THROUGH THE YOUR FUTURE CAST FOR TOMORROW. TOMORROW WE WILL GET A FEW MORE STORMS THAN WHAT WE’VE HAD AS OF LATE. BUT MOST OF THEM WILL BE INLAND AGAIN. WELL, EAST OF 75, THIS IS 6 O’CLOCK TOMORROW. GLADES, HENDRY AND INLAND COLLIER WINNING THERE FOR THE RAINFALL TOTALS. IF THERE WAS AN AWARD OVER TO CLOSED IN LABELLE, MAYBE A COUPLE OF SHOWERS LATE INTO THE NIGHT ON THURSDAY. FRIDAY. DIFFERENT STORY. IF YOU HAVE OUTDOOR PLANS, WATCH THIS. WE DO HAVE A COUPLE OF SHOWERS ARRIVING BY 5 O’CLOCK, BUT THEY DON’T END THERE. WELL, AS WE HEAD INTO 7.30, PUSH, THEY COME RIGHT BACK INTO THE GULF. WELL, WE HAVE SOME HEAVY RAIN TO PARTS OF HENDRY COUNTY. SO AREAS IN CHARLOTTE COUNTY MIGHT NOT SEE AS MUCH RAIN, BUT WE WILL HAVE A FEW SHOWERS LATE INTO THE DAY RETURN TO THE COAST. SAME ON SATURDAY. 3 O’CLOCK SCATTERED SHOWERS BEGINNING TO DEVELOP HEAVIER DOWNPOURS FROM THE BELL TO CLOSE TO IT AGAIN, MAINLY INLAND, BUT NOT ALWAYS MAINLY INLAND. AND THEN AS THE EVENING GOES ON, STRETCHES BACK OVER TO THE COAST AND IT WILL GET FAVOR OF THE INLAND SPOTS WITH A FEW ISOLATED SHOWERS FOR AREAS ALONG.
The high humidity remains in place tonight so overnight temperatures Wednesday night will be mild, ranging from the mid-to-upper 70s. Relatively dry air will remain over the region for Thursday as well. Rain chances will range anywhere from 20% to 30%, with most of the rain expected to fall near areas just south of Lake Okeechobee. Most notable will continue to be the heat across all of the Gulf Coast, as afternoon highs will peak in the mid-90s, making it feel like the triple digits. Moisture will slowly increase as we inch closer to the weekend, but only about a 40% chance of rain is expected. A shift in the winds could help to push more rain over metro sections Friday evening. Tropics: Tropical Storm Arthur has downgraded to a post-tropical cyclone after it formed in the Gulf. It is expected to still bring heavy rain, gusty winds, and the potential for life-threatening flooding for the northern Gulf Coast states.
