We're getting closer and closer to the spooky season, especially for Orlando theme parks, as many of them begin celebrating as early as August.

Universal Orlando‘s Halloween Horror Nights is one of the most anticipated events of the year, and while we're already looking forward for all there is to experience this year, we've got some bad news. A new change in Universal's rules around the event means that parking is no longer free for those visiting HHN after midnight.
In previous years, parking was free for Universal Orlando attendees after midnight, meaning that if you were meeting friends late in CityWalk, or heading to an event like Halloween Horror Nights on the later side, you could waive the parking fee as long as you waited for the clock to strike midnight. Unfortunately, that's no longer the case.

Universal has now changed their website to say that parking will be regular price until 2 AM, and seeing as that's when Halloween Horror Nights ends, there will be no way to bypass the parking fee this time around. Currently, self parking is $35 for vehicles at Universal Orlando, or if you pre-pay before the day of arrival, it'll cost you $32. Parking rates do vary depending on how busy the day is.

Fortunately, for those with Annual Passes that offer free or discounted parking, or for those that have ticket packages that include free parking, this does not affect you. In the past, some Halloween Horror Nights ticket deals have included free parking, so that may be something to watch out for when planning your trip this time around. This year, Halloween Horror Nights will take place on select nights from August 28th through November 1st, and as always, it is a separately ticketed event, meaning regular theme park tickets won't get you access.
