Two injured after crash near Fontenelle Park in North Omaha
Two people were taken to the hospital after an overnight crash in North Omaha.
Emergency crews responded to the crash near Fontenelle Blvd and Ames Avenue, right next to Fontenelle Park, just after midnight Wednesday.
Officers confirmed the injuries with First Alert 6 on the scene. They say the investigation into the two-vehicle crash is ongoing.
Man accused in deadly North Omaha shooting set for court Wednesday
A man arrested in connection to a North Omaha shooting on Sunday is scheduled to make his first court appearance Wednesday.
Denzel Gaines, 33, was booked into Douglas County Corrections for homicide in the shooting death of Mi'Kaya Eggert, 21.

Officers found Eggert near 28th and Franklin streets at about 5 p.m. Sunday. She was taken to the hospital, where she died.
OPD says officers began investigating the shooting as a homicide, but the investigation remains ongoing. Gaines is expected in court at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Two hospitalized after house fire in northwest Omaha
Area firefighters responded to a house fire in northwest Omaha on Tuesday afternoon.
The scene of the fire was near 148th Street and Redick Avenue.
Firefighters say two people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
First Alert 6 is told the home sustained extensive damage, and residents will have to find another place to stay. Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
Nebraska Rep. Mike Flood hosts town hall in Norfolk
Nebraska Rep. Mike Flood hosted a town hall Tuesday night at Norfolk High School.
The event opened with remarks from Flood, as he noted his recent work to try and reduce housing costs. Flood also spoke on the conflict in Iran, as well as soaring gas prices.
Flood answered questions about a fund announced by the Trump administration to compensate those who say they were wrongfully targeted by the Biden administration. This includes those who were prosecuted following the events of Jan. 6.
The town hall comes as Flood seeks reelection this fall. He is expected to face Democrat Chris Backemeyer in the November election.
Jordy Frahm named USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year
Nebraska softball standout Jordy Frahm picked up another honor on Tuesday.
The Papio product was named the Player of the Year by USA Softball. Last season, she was a top 3 finalist for the award and top 10 in 2022 and 2023.
The Huskers star shined on both sides of the field. In the circle, she ranks in the top 10 nationally in ERA, saves, shutouts, strikeouts and more. At the plate, Frahm leads the Huskers with a .416 average and 19 home runs.
The softball team is back at the Women's College World Series for the first time since 2013. Some fans are heading to Oklahoma City, while many others will be cheering from Lincoln.
Omaha speller competing at Scripps National Spelling Bee for 3rd time
The Scripps National Spelling Bee got underway Tuesday in Washington, D.C., with a speller from Omaha competing for the third time.
Sarah Fernandes previously competed in 2023 and 2024. This year, she's already breezed through the first two rounds.
The quarterfinals take place Wednesday morning. You can see the semifinals Wednesday night and the finals Thursday night on our Ion Television subchannel at digital channel 6.4, or Cox channel 57.
The three-day competition concludes Thursday night, according to the Associated Press. AP also reports that this is the 98th bee.
