Traffic is finally starting to move slowly on Interstate 71 south in Lebanon after a series of crashes caused major congestion early Wednesday. The first crash occurred around 1:30 a.m. between a sedan and a semi-truck, resulting in two people being taken to the hospital with unclear injuries. The semi-truck also leaked diesel, which is currently being cleaned up.

In a subsequent incident, a semi collided with a fire engine responding to the initial crash, but fortunately, no injuries were reported. The Warren County Sheriff’s Office also responded to a third crash on the I-71 south ramp from State Route 48, where one of the big rigs leaked oil, requiring a tow truck to clear the scene.

The Ohio State Police are investigating these incidents, in coordination with the Ohio Department of Transportation. While ODOT has managed to open the left lane for traffic, there are still significant delays. This remains a developing story, with updates to follow.
