Since Riacquistu, we have focused a lot on the school. This of course has a role to play and we can clearly see that, since the 2000s, bilingualism has developed considerably. However, this is not enough. New speakers and students should not be confused. We also have neo-locutors to create among adults, outside the school setting. This involves in particular associations and training for adults but also the responsibility of ordinary transmitting speakers.
Who are the current neo-locutors of Corsica?
The profiles are varied and the motivations diverse. First of all, there are newcomers who have no ties to the island and see language as a vector of integration. There are also – and this is the most important part – speakers who heard the language in their childhood without practicing it.
