Montceau – The curious anti-sport indictment of the culture assistant

“Stand-up can be learned.” This is the reflection of a spectator after leaving the concert on Saturday evening at the Embarcadère. A remark which was particularly aimed at Solange Capber, cultural assistant of Montceau-les-Mines, after her speech before the show.

For a deputy mayor to praise culture, nothing could be more natural. That Solange Capber deplores the profusion of sporting events of the moment, and in particular the Football World Cup, also reflects her freedom of opinion.

After all, everyone is free to consume sport as they wish, by watching the matches, turning off their television, changing the channel or, better yet, attending the So British – Volume 2 concert.

But why systematically oppose culture and sport?

Why send the public a message as clear-cut as: “We wouldn’t do sport, that wouldn’t be any worse”, as Solange Capber said?

Should we understand that the municipal delegations responsible for sport and community life are now considered accessories? Have the assistant positions concerned become redundant?

The speech is all the more surprising as it comes from an elected official who herself practices a sporting activity. Solange Capber also won, on April 22, a competition organized at the Montchanin golf course.

Something to wonder about. Would sport be condemnable when it fascinates the greatest number of people, but virtuous when it is practiced on a golf course?
