Vietnamese Consul General in Osaka Nguyen Truong Son said the program provides a valuable platform to showcase and promote Vietnam’s rich cultural heritage to international audiences, while strengthening solidarity within the Vietnamese community in Japan and fostering ties with their roots.

The cultural and artistic exchange program “Huong sac Viêt Nam” (Fragrance and Beauty of Vietnam) was held on Sunday (June 14) in Japan, bringing together officials, artists and members of the Vietnamese and Japanese communities to celebrate cultural heritage and friendship.

Consul General of Vietnam in Osaka, Nguyen Truong Son, President of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association, Sakai Norihiro, honorary professor-doctor, artist Chu Bao Quê, deputy secretary general of the Vietnam Federation of Associations UNESCO and world record holder, as well as artists from both countries and members of the Vietnamese community in Japan, attended the event.

 

Speaking at the ceremony, Consul General Nguyen Truong Son said the program provides a valuable platform to showcase and promote Vietnam’s rich cultural heritage to international audiences, while strengthening solidarity within the Vietnamese community across the country. Japan and promoting links with their roots.

 

The diplomat welcomed the participation of renowned Vietnamese artists, whose performances helped to raise awareness of traditional cultural values ​​among Vietnamese abroad and strengthen their emotional ties with their homeland.

 

Lê Thuong, president of the Kansai Region Vietnamese Association and head of the organizing committee, stressed that culture is the soul of a nation and an essential link that unites Vietnamese abroad with their language, traditions and cultural identity.

In the era of globalization, preserving Vietnamese cultural values ​​not only helps maintain the cohesion of communities abroad, but also promotes the image of Vietnam and its people among international partners, she said.

 

Organizers described the program as much more than just an artistic performance: a true cultural space where Vietnamese traditions can be preserved, highlighted and passed on to future generations.

 

The program also provided Japan’s Vietnamese community with an opportunity to reflect on efforts to maintain Vietnamese language, culture and traditions while living abroad.

 

Deputy Secretary General of the Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations Chu Bao Quê stressed that preserving and promoting traditional cultural values ​​is a responsibility shared by all Vietnamese, at home and abroad.

He pointed out that Vietnamese cultural treasures, such as Quan Ho folk songs, Dông Hô prints and other traditional art forms, are enjoying increasing international recognition, testifying to the vitality of the national cultural heritage.

 

Professor and artist Chu Bao Quê said he was convinced that the Vietnamese community in Japan would continue to play an active role as cultural ambassadors and build bonds of friendship between the two countries.

 

One of the highlights of this year’s program was the screening of the documentary “Nguoi giu hôn di san” (Guardians of Heritage), winner of the Golden Lotus in 2025. This film tells the story of people dedicated to preserving Vietnam’s traditional cultural values and conveys the message that heritage can only continue if successive generations cherish it, protect it and promote it.

 

The Osaka public was also able to attend different traditional shows. Through music, storytelling and cultural exchange activities, the program helped strengthen the sense of national pride among overseas Vietnamese, while providing Japanese audiences with a better understanding of a Vietnam rich in traditions, strong cultural identity and aspirations for the future.
