The Minister of Culture Catherine Pégard announced, Thursday June 11, the launch in September of a “heritage pass”, implemented by the Heritage Foundation, which will allow visitors to visit hundreds of monuments, museums or castles and help with their maintenance.
This pass will be “implemented on the occasion of Heritage Days”on September 19 and 20, declared the minister, who was speaking on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Foundation in Versailles, according to her speech transmitted to AFP. Its amount, which will be precisely known in September, should be “around 100 euros”the foundation told AFP.
Distributed during the annual membership of the Heritage Foundation, it “from its launch will allow visitors to visit nearly 500 monuments, museums, castles, gardens” for a year, she adds in a press release.
The objective is to “bringing heritage to life by increasing the number of visits” et “bring additional income to partner sites”. Members will thus be able to “access renowned sites such as the Château de Versailles, the Château de Chambord, the Château de Fontainebleau, the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte, the Château de Chantilly, the château d’Azay-le-Rideau, the château de Vincennes, the Villa Cavrois or the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild”she specifies.
Sites less known to the general public will also be accessible, such as La Maison Rozier (Puy-de-Dôme), La Maison de Colette (Yonne), La Devinière – Musée Rabelais (Indre et Loire), Le Four des Casseaux (Haute-Vienne), detailed the Foundation, which also organizes a Heritage Lottery each year.
The Center for Historic Monuments, but also the Association of Small Cities of Character of France and the Federation of Conservatories of Natural Spaces will contribute to the implementation of the system.
The Foundation, born in 1996, claims to have made it possible to “save, restore and transmit more than 46,487 projects across mainland and overseas France”.
