An ambitious event that combines pop culture with manga.
Discoveries, workshops and head-filling memories. Every year, thousands pass through the doors of the Town Hall to discover l’Expo Manga Lagny. Doctor Strange, Mary Poppins, Wanda Maximoff ou même Ariel (from the Little Mermaid)… Last year, the aisles of the common house were invaded by iconic characters from pop culture. On Saturday June 13, 2026, the most curious will be able to discover a Japanese culture that is sometimes little-known… An event hosted by the Rotary Club of Lagnyand a passionate volunteer: Laure Peltier Gelin. « Four years ago, we imagined a challenge with the Rotary Club of Lagny: bringing the Japan Expo to Lagny-sur-Marne. All this while offering free entry, it is offered to families and to all fans of manga, Japan and cosplay. It’s an invitation to travel, we will be able to discover Japan, matcha tea, vintage kimonos… We listen to ideas, it’s truly a human adventure, thanks in particular to the town hall which lends us this setting. » From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the doors of the Town Hall open onto a sometimes inaccessible universe: Japanese culture. On site, professionals exhibit and interact with the public to share a passion. On the reading side, the media library of Marne et Gondoire et the Rose-May bookshop are joining forces with the event to present their collection of manga books. “You will be able to discover three environments: Japan (around Japanese culture), a space dedicated to cosplayers (with parades and a cosplay competition), le retrogaming (a free access to the gaming terminals), un stand Just Dance (with a competition open to all) which will be on the ground floor. » Artists’ souls will even be able to let themselves be tempted by a calligraphy or origami workshop. Any advice? Go through it! The trip is unforgettable and immersive… It even allows us to forget our daily worries!

You will have handmade creations, artists, illustrators, 3D creations with swords, kpop culture. » In the corridors of the Hôtel de Villes, several artist stands will follow one another… Young and old alike will be able to fall in love with crocheted characters, stickers, key rings, kawaii stationery or even matcha tea cups. The little surprise of this fourth edition? “Place de la Fontaine will also be invested with an exhibition of innovative cars (grâce à Renault-Alpine), we will have special Star Wars cosplayers and an initiation to ludosports. We also have a partnership with the Le Cinq cinema… This year, the cinema will welcome us for a screening on The Mandalorian (Star Wars). » A session dedicated to cosplayers.
