Supported by the Drac (Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs) Occitanie and the Region, the Culture and Disability project is supported by the Théâtre au crossing and the Troupuscule theater company, in partnership with the Pôle sésame autism des Aspres. Its objective: to promote access to culture for people with disabilities, through different artistic practices. The adventure began last November with a hip-hop workshop led by Francky Corcoy, from the company Influence. This first experience, concluded with a presentation at the Théâtre au Croisements, allowed participants to develop their bodily expression while discovering the emotions and pleasure of the stage.
Over the months, other workshops have been added to the course. The music sessions offered by Monsieur Jacques and the theater workshops led by Emma Battesti provided spaces for expression, creativity and exchange. These artistic practices allowed everyone to gain confidence, strengthen social bonds and reveal their talents in a caring and rewarding environment. The final restitution, organized at Thuir hospital in the presence of families, partners and residents, highlighted the commitment and progress made by the participants. This strong moment also recalled the essential role of culture as a vector of inclusion, sharing and citizenship.
Through this initiative, the organizers demonstrate once again that access to artistic practice constitutes a formidable lever for personal development and participation in collective life.
