George and his puppets

On the stageEspace Marc-Sangnier at Mont-Saint-Aignan, one of the three places of creation of the CDN of Normandy-Rouen (76), long minutes of silence with a view of the decor teeming with accessories, a complete change of scenery… Deaf actress, Angela Ibanez Castano plays and portrays in sign language the prologue which opens George sans Sthe new creation of the company Les Anges au Ceiling. A singular moment, of great expressive and poetic force!

For more than 1h30, the show will unfold the life of George Sand, this woman with an incredible destiny. Avant-garde feminist who won her divorce case in a world that is still very misogynistic and patriarchal, avowed Republican who got involved in the revolution of 1848 alongside Ledru-Rollin, an early ecologist who defended the forest, an inveterate smoker, dressed in pants despite the legal ban on women at the time, in love and liberated lover in the eyes of all… At the same time and at the same time, attentive mother and prolific novelist with more than 70 novels, short stories and plays! One said house of Nohanteverything makes sense, art and cultureÂ: writing, poetry, music, nature, but also… puppet theater!

A godsend for Camille Trouvé and Brice Berthoud, directors (in collaboration with Jonas Coutancier) and directors of the CDN of Rouenwhose compagnie specializes in the art of puppets in all its forms, small or large, made of wood or paper! Maurice, George’s son, had his playhouse in the family home, his mother even wrote texts for the son and created costumes for the puppets. A small theater installed on the ground floor of the house, which operated for almost thirty years. It is therefore with delicacy and finesse that Camille, also an actress, handles the giant puppet of her heroinealongside three partners. With other wooden or cardboard figures, animated or not: a deer, a dog, a lion, trees and lampposts

A colorful spectacle, between passion and emotion, with a strong historical charge and great visual beauty. From bathing at the lake to the clear defense of moral freedoms, from faith in a progressive Republic to convictions in the innovative force of cultureso many avenues to follow and major battles to pursue for future generations.
