“It’s a great feminist victory”reacts Friday June 5 on France Inter, Claudia, member of the feminist collective Nous Tous, while the Édouard VII theater announced Thursday that the last five performances in Paris of the play Part twoin which Patrick Bruel plays, are canceled. The actor and singer is the target of several investigations for rape.
Activists from Nous Tous demonstrated in front of the theater on Wednesday evening to denounce the presence of the actor on stage, leading to the cancellation of this performance. On May 28, three members of the collective also shouted in the room, during a performance, “Bruel, rapist!”before being evacuated. The cancellation of the last performances, after this mobilization of All of Us, “shows that feminist collectives have power”according to Claudia.
“We will never talk about a media tribunal but about a feminist revolution”, explains the activist. “It must be remembered that the presumption of innocence is a principle of criminal procedure”, précise Claudia, “so it only concerns justice, it does not concern civil society.”
