Grace by Paolo Sorrentino

Graces. Grace is part of the continuity of the work of Paolo Sorrentino, known for his observation of elites, solitude and power. After The Great Beauty (2013) and the excellent It was the hand of God (2021), the Italian director here develops a story centered on Mariano de Santis (Toni Servillo), President of the Republic on the verge of leaving power. In complete disillusionment, he must examine two requests for presidential pardon in homicide cases, while a bill on euthanasia feeds his moral unrest. The choice is not simple, and the dilemma in which Mariano de Santis is plunged leads him into abysses of reflection. Far from the rhythm and colors of his previous film Parthenope (2024), Paolo Sorrentino seduces with the portrait of this aging politician, where melancholy is never far away.

Grace de Paolo Sorrentino, with Toni Servillo, Anna Ferzetti, Orlando Cinque (ITA, 2026, 2 h 13), 19.99 euros (DVD), 19.99 euros (Blu-ray). Sorties on 3 June 2026.

The Mastermind de Kelly Reichardt

Wandering. Three years later Showing Up (2022), Kelly Reichardt returns with The Mastermind. The film follows an unsuccessful former art student, JB Mooney (Josh O’Connor), who becomes involved in art theft against the backdrop of the United States in the 1970s. Along with inexperienced accomplices, he manages to steal four paintings by Arthur Dove (1880-1946). Arrested, one of his accomplices speaks to the police, which forces JB Mooney to flee. This false heist film deconstructs the figure of the gangster and paints the portrait of an era. This antihero is also a magnificent loser who gives. The Mastermind the aspect of a subtle comedy. We follow with great pleasure his drift, his wandering, in this film as minimalist as it is vintage. After his second film Old Joy (2006), which was also her first big success, Kelly Reichardt confirmed with the very successful First Cow (2019). His ninth feature film is as beautiful as it is melancholy.

The Mastermind by Kelly Reichardt, with Josh O’Connor, Alana Haim, John Magaro (USA, 2026, 1€‰h€‰50), 19.99€ (Blu-ray and DVD combo), 35.99€ (4K Blu-ray). Sortie on 4th June 2026.

No other choice by Park Chan-Wook

Grinçant. The story follows a former industrial sector employee, You Man-su (Lee Byung-hun), fired after years of service, who sees his attempts at reintegration fail in a saturated job market. Faced with insecurity, he develops a radical strategy: he eliminates his potential competitors to obtain a new job. A reflection on social violence, economic competition and the excesses of professional survival, this film brings to the surface the famous revenge trilogy of Park Chan-Wook, with Sympathy for M. Vengeance (2002), Old Boy (2003) et Lady Vengeance (2005). This time, it’s black humor that takes over. A fierce and grating black humor, carried by an excellent Lee Byung-hun.

Frankenstein by David Sala

Colors. Accustomed to reinterpretations of great literary works, the bodhisattva David Sala attacks Frankenstein or le Prométhée moderne (1818), the gothic novel by Mary Shelley (1797-1851). We can no longer count the number of rereadings that have been proposed. But David Sala’s is clearly above the others. This dark novel is transcribed by a surge of colors and refined dialogues. The whole creates a very poetic universe, of great visual beauty. Born in Décines (Rhône), in 1973, David Sala is a former student of the Emile Cohl school in Lyon. He illustrated around ten children’s books at Casterman, notably The Prisoner of the Fog (2015) by Guillaume Guéraud and The Chagrin (2019) by Carole Martinez in 2019. Her work around Chess player (1943) by Stefan Zweig (1881-1942) was already remarkable. With FrankensteinDavid Sala confirms what we already knew –: his talent is immense.

Glass Minds Archive

Mood. Launched in London in 1994 by Darius Keeler and Danny Griffiths, Archive made an impact from the release of its first album, Londiniumin 1996. Their sound borrows from trip-hop and alternative rock. As for their universe, it deploys dark atmospheres inspired by Bristol and the British electronic scene of the 1990s. Their 13ème album, Glass Minds (2026), is structured around 12 titles. The first single, Look At Usunveiled in September 2025, oscillates between electro-pop and new wave, driven irresistibly by the voice of Lisa Mottram. Wake Up Strange takes other paths, with its heady electronic beat. Another highlight: the very beautiful City Wallsas inspired as it is melancholy. Glass Minds is moving. This record displays varied atmospheres and moods, but always catchy. More than thirty years later, Archive is still as attractive as ever.

Glass MindsArchive (Dangervisit), 13.99€ (CD), 29.99€ (vinyle).

Boys Cry Too The Haunted Youth

Balance. This is the second album from Belgian Joachim Liebens’ project, and it is just as exciting as the first. After the very good Dawn of the Freak (2022), the 11 titles of Boys Cry Too immerse us once again in a shower of atmospheric dream-pop melodies, but with a more frontal approach. The first part of this record is very energetic, with the very catchy Deathwish et Castlevania. What follows is softer and more introspective, proving, if necessary, that boys have the right to cry. Wake Up begins with an acoustic guitar, before gradually increasing. The walk Hurt is also one of the highlights of the second half of this album, as are the very beautiful Emo Song, Falling to Pieces or Ghost Girl. Joachim Liebens confirms all the good things we thought of him. With Boys Cry Toohe finds the balance between strength and vulnerability. Halfway between emotional fragility and sonic explosions, our pleasure is total.

Boys Cry Too, The Haunted Youth (Pias), 15.99€ (CD), 25.99€ (vinyle coloré).
