For a great outing with friends, nothing better than a destination combining culture and heritage. This is the choice that the staff of the Fraternité Viganaise Association made when visiting the magnificent Château de Fénelon, located on the border of the Lot and the Dordogne, a place rich in history and heritage treasures. And it was on this beautiful day of May 28, peak of the spring heatwave!

Thanks to the talent of our guide, as passionate as it is exciting, the group discovered the “history” of the castle and the great diversity of its collections – without equivalent in Black Périgord – the visit of around ten fully furnished rooms, offering a remarkable journey through the evolution of the French art of living over the centuries.

The history of the castle remains closely linked to that of its most famous occupant, François de Salignac de La Mothe-Fénelon. Visitors were able to discover the room where he was born, the chapel where he was baptized, as well as the small “nurse’s house”, at the foot of the walls, where he spent his first years. The author would later draw inspiration from it for his famous work, The Adventures of Telemachus.

As always, this beautiful day ended with an excellent meal served at the Relais d’Auniac, pleasantly concluding this friendly meeting.
