Conferences, virtual reality, opera and biodiversity will punctuate the month of June at the Augustins cultural center.
In the Micro-Folie room of the Augustins cultural and tourist center, last month, the first conference dedicated to AI took place, the first of a cycle of three (the next will be held on Saturday June 6 on the quantum world). Organizing conferences by videoconference and live constitutes one of the major axes of the Pôle des Augustins, equipped with a digital device.
La Micro-Folie is a government system of the Ministry of Culture coordinated by La Villette, in Paris. La Villette provides collections of works of art composed of museum works, monuments of architectural heritage, contemporary living art and musical references, the Philharmonie de Paris being among the founding organizations.
“These films offer an overview of the major French and international collections, with numerous regional collections and this innovative system is intended to be accessible, without cultural or digital prerequisites. Thus, visitors can freely explore the content for a few minutes or several hours,” underlines Nolwen Gimenez, in charge of programming.
June programming
In summary, the Micro-Folie is a digital museum where we view collections of works of art, to be discovered freely using tablets or thematically during conferences. With more than 250 monthly visits, the Micro-Folie creates a link between school and leisure. The equipment is based around the digital museum, the Fablab and virtual reality.
The June program confirms the cultural and scientific ambition of the site. Thus, Saturday June 6, a conference devoted to the quantum world, hosted by Gilles Contessi, will be followed by a cinema screening. Saturday June 13, a meeting will focus on the Bastides of Vallons du Gers. Visitors will also be able to participate in 3D modeling workshops at the Fablab, discover ancient Egypt during an interactive visit or test the virtual reality headsets. Saturday June 17, a snack will accompany the broadcast of the youth opera “Bastien et Bastienne”. A live conference from the Grand Palais Meeting of National Museums (RMN) on Japonism in the 19th century is also scheduled for Saturday June 20. The end of the month will be marked by the 24 hours of biodiversity and by an artists’ residency around the sound and visual project “TUTTI”, with public meetings and demonstrations. Access to the Micro-Folie is always free.
