Among all the senior clubs in the town of Alès, that of the Les Oliviers home offers its members various outings and lotteries galore.
On a beautiful late afternoon, while the residents of the Les Oliviers home, north of Alès, go out to enjoy the sun, others are already installed inside. Gathered around a large table in the living room, they prepare to share a moment of conviviality around a lottery. Between lively discussions and carefully aligned boxes, the atmosphere is relaxing.

Lotos, raffles and regular outings
“We are there every Wednesday afternoonannounces Béatrice Veyron, president of the club. In general, we do lottos, quines, raffles. And the snack is included in the lottery.” A weekly meeting awaited by regulars, who come as much to play as to chat.
However, the activities are not limited to these sessions. “We organize one big outing per quarterexplain the president. Sometimes in the mountains, sometimes at the sea. And we also go out every Friday afternoon.” A program designed according to the age of the participants, with activities adapted to the pace and desires of each person.
To participate, a small contribution is requested. “Membership cards start between January 15 and the end of the month. We ask for 10 euros for the year“, specifies Béatrice Veyron. The lotto cards, offered between 4 and 10 euros, make it possible to finance quarterly outings.
A simple model that allows the club to operate while remaining accessible to all, in a spirit of proximity.
A club open beyond the residence
If the club is linked to the Les Oliviers home, it is not limited to its residents. In the courtyard, several participants are enjoying the good weather. “It’s nice to be able to go out, confided one of them. These activities allow us to see other faces.” Some come from outside to participate in the games and meet friends.
Over the years, the club has established itself as a real place of social connection for the neighborhood, particularly for seniors. A simple and warm meeting, where people come as much to play as to meet up.
