What if culture nestled where we least expected it? Between summer pastures, streams and lively concerts, the La Pie Folle association is celebrating five years of timeless existence. Meeting with lovers of live performance who have succeeded in the crazy challenge of making art accessible to everyone, from cities to volcanoes.
Who said that culture was reserved for the inhabitants of cities and metropolises? Less than 30 minutes by car from Clermont, nestled at an altitude of 1,000 meters between the villages of Auriéres and Aydat, La Pie Folle, formerly the Bergerie de Randanne, is a cultural association bar, which offers concerts, exhibitions and performances once or twice a month.
The place is preparing to celebrate its 5 years of existence with a great musical program. Much more than a stage open to groups, this association in which Manue and Pablo are particularly involved, welcomes artists and the public with everything that characterizes the know-how of the people of this region, between mountains, summer pastures and streams. All with a little touch of madness but also poetry.
7 Days in Clermont: What is the origin of the name of your concert venue?
La Pie Folle: This sweet name came from Pablo, a member of the association who remembered that the president’s grandfather called her “the magpie” when she was little, because she talked a lot… If you meet her, you will understand. The magpie is also a common bird in our beautiful region, as elegant as the members of the association! As for madness, isn’t it in each of us? Follies are certainly the things you never regret…
7JÃ C: Can you tell us the story of this project? What were your motivations and how does your programming work?
LPF : We both had the dream of creating a place where everything is possible… A meeting place in our beautiful mountains. We are motivated by sharing, happy moments and everything that the arts can allow. For programming, we invite each artist, association or creative person to send us a proposal by email or on social networks. There are not only concerts, there is also theater, exhibitions, dance, performing arts, pétanque and the stream!
“A program open to all styles of music”
7 Days in Clermont: During these 5 years, have you welcomed all types of music, or have you turned towards a particular style?
La Pie Folle: Our programming is open to any style of music, performances, shows. The only watchword would perhaps be creation, diversity and favorites.
7JÃ C: La Pie Folle is a place open to all, with an inclusive side as well?
LPF: Our desire is to make culture accessible to all budgets, all backgrounds, to all generations, cities and volcanoes… Human diversity is as rich as artistic creation.
7JÃ C: You want to welcome your audience. What are your secrets so that everyone can have a good evening?
LPF: We ensure that the place is welcoming and warm so that each person can feel like they are in their nest… No secrets, just humanity and kindness. Indeed, we have a team of dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers who allow the evenings to take place with a smile and in complete safety.
“We remember the discussions, the laughter and the dances”
7 Days in Clermont: Do you have a special program for this 5th anniversary? Will you do things differently?
La Pie Folle: The evening will begin a little earlier, at 6:02 p.m., and outside with the wonderful Duo Mii (violin and bassoon) and the friendly Orgue Barbar (barrel organ). It will continue inside with the fantastic The Kokomo’s (rockab’) and Le Link, who will come from Grenoble to play groove electronic music. Surprises and DJs will spice up and close this beautiful evening.
7JÃ C: Over the past 5 years, what are your fondest memories?
LPF: It’s difficult to choose, but we remember the discussions, the laughter, the dances shared by all these people who, at the beginning, did not know each other. Some have even found love!
7Jà C: How do you see the evolution of this project?
LPF: We would like to host even more live shows and performances, and we aspire to always surprise all the “piafs” who come to pass us.
Evening of the 5th anniversary of La Pie Folle: June 13, 2026
