On May 23, the three museums of Draguignan will participate in the European Night of Museums with a free opening and activities.
The town of Draguignan is preparing to experience an exceptional cultural evening on Saturday May 23, 2026. On the occasion of the European Night of Museums, its three establishments benefiting from the prestigious “Musée de France” label are mobilizing to offer the public an experience unique and completely free nightlife. This annual event, eagerly awaited by art and history lovers as well as the curious, invites you to rediscover heritage treasures in a new light, or rather, a new night.
As soon as night falls, the doors of these three cultural institutions will open to welcome all visitors. The initiative aims to make culture accessible to as many people as possible and to attract new audiences, by offering an approach to museum visits that is both friendly and fun.
A rich program for all audiences
For this edition, the City of Draguignan has orchestrated a varied program which promises to satisfy all sensitivities. Visitors will be able to wander through the exhibition rooms and take part in numerous activities designed specifically for the occasion. The announced program includes guided tours, which will allow you to deepen your knowledge of the permanent collections or temporary exhibitions thanks to insights from mediators or curators.
Conferences will also be organized, offering moments of exchange and knowledge on specific themes. Music will not be left out with concerts which will punctuate the evening and create a unique atmosphere within the museums. Finally, creative workshops and readings will complete this eclectic offer, inviting young and old to active participation and total immersion in the world of Dracenois museums.
A major European event
Created in 2005 by the French Ministry of Culture, the European Museum Night quickly became an unmissable event on the continental cultural calendar. Every year, thousands of museums in around thirty European countries take part in this event, offering an exceptional and free opening in the evening. The event, placed under the triple patronage of the Council of Europe, UNESCO and ICOM (International Council of Museums), aims to democratize access to culture and to highlight the richness and diversity of European museum heritage.
The excellence of the Dracenois museums highlighted
The active participation of the three Draguignan museums underlines their dynamism and the quality of their collections, recognized by the designation “Musée de France”. This label, issued by the State, guarantees compliance with strict criteria in terms of conservation, study, enrichment of collections and implementation of educational and dissemination actions aimed at ensuring equal access to culture for all. This special night will be therefore a special opportunity for the public to discover or rediscover these exceptional places which actively contribute to the cultural influence of the city and its territory.
