In transport or accommodation, several players are seeing signs indicating an influx of foreign travelers wishing to attend this event which has gone viral on social networks this weekend.

Every year, the ritual is repeated. This June 21 marks the return of the Music Festival, a popular event born in France and which over the decades has become one of the highlights of the summer calendar. Improvised concerts on street corners, open stages, balconies transformed into dance floors: for one evening, music takes over public space and brings together thousands of participants… including a growing number of foreigners.

The reputation of the festival now extends well beyond French borders. On social networks, videos of crowds dancing in the Parisian streets, on the quays or in front of bars are circulating massively as the event approaches. On Instagram in particular, the hashtag #fetedelamusique is already full of content announcing the most lively places in the capital. The first images of foreign visitors who came especially for the occasion are also circulating online, fueling a phenomenon that has gone viral. Mentions of the Music Festival on online media have increased by 14.9% over the last 30 days compared to 2025, according to Paris town hall.

Eurostars and buses taken by storm

This international visibility seems to be bearing fruit. A few days before the event, several tourism and transport players are seeing a clear increase in demand for Paris. This is the case for journeys from London, according to Eurostar: “We are seeing a significant number of UK travelers planning to travel to Paris or Lille this Friday or Saturday, and returning on Monday or Tuesdayexplains the company. We can safely say that the Music Festival is the main factor.. The number of passengers between London and Paris or Lille on Friday June 19 is thus 16% higher than that of a classic Friday in May or June. Even more significant, reservations made more than two months in advance for the same date show an increase of 60%. The company also plans an increase of at least 26% compared to the 2024 edition.

Same observation at FlixBus. The coach transport operator recorded a doubling of searches on its site and its application for journeys to Paris from this Friday, particularly from the United Kingdom and Belgium. “This corresponds to a 20% increase in tickets sold compared to the previous week”we specify. If this increase represents only a few hundred additional travelers, due to lack of increase in capacity, FlixBus nevertheless sees this “a renewed interest from neighboring countries for the Music Festival”. Sales are also up 5 to 10% compared to last year, at the same period.

Accommodation: an increasingly present international clientele

Unsurprisingly, these travelers are also giving a boost to the tourist rental market, with a forecast occupancy rate increasing by 4% for the night of June 21 and 4.7% for that of June 20 compared to 2025, according to Paris town hall. Airbnb observed a 17% increase in searches for stays between June 19 and 22 compared to last year. French travelers remain in the majority, representing 53% of reservations recorded for this period. But foreign customers are gaining ground. The United Kingdom comes first with almost 10% of reservations, ahead of the United States (9%) and Germany (almost 6%). The event also attracts a particularly diverse audience. Millennials make up the largest contingent, with 32% of reservations, followed by Generation X (27%) and Generation Z (25%).

For Clément Eulry, director of Airbnb France, “the continued increase in reservations and the diversity of travelers who choose to stay in France on this occasion testify to the unique capacity of this popular event to bring together generations and nationalities around the same passion for music”. A dynamic which benefits, according to him, “to Airbnb hosts as well as restaurants, bars and local shops”. One thing is certain, the capital expects to experience a particularly busy Music Festival. An attendance which confirms the growing international influence of the event, despite the temperatures which promise to be scorching.
